Nonprofit Emergency Response Funds Announced

Los Alamos, N.M. – The Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF) has established the Nonprofit Emergency Response Funds, in partnership with a growing list of local businesses and foundations, to support and assist nonprofit organizations in Northern New Mexico as they respond to the impact of COVID-19 within our communities.

Initial partners who have committed to seeding the funds include: Delle Foundation, LACF, LANL Foundation, Newport News Nuclear BWXT Los Alamos (N3B), Triad National Security LLC, and United Way of Northern New Mexico. These partners have committed an initial round of funding, will provide assistance with administering the funds, and anticipate continuing to help grow the fund in the weeks and months ahead. Public contributions to the funds are welcome, and can be made online or by check.

Cash donations may be made via check to “Los Alamos Community Foundation” and mailed to:

P.O. Box 1225
Los Alamos, NM 87544

Donations can be made online through LACF’s website: www.losalamoscf.org/giving/covid-19-nonprofit-emergency-response.

One hundred percent of contributions to this fund will be distributed to regional nonprofit organizations swiftly as needs arise. Funding partners are waiving all administrative fees, and covering all credit card fees.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is taking a toll on everyone and every organization, including our region’s nonprofits,” said Rachel Kizielewicz, Executive Director of the Los Alamos Community Foundation. “These funding partners have rallied together to support our nonprofit organizations who will, in turn, provide aid to our communities.”

“While our government, healthcare systems and public health practitioners are doing everything in their power to slow the spread of COVID-19, our local nonprofits are also preparing to assist those most vulnerable during this unprecedented time. N3B is pleased to join our fellow philanthropic and business partners to establish this fund,” said Glenn Morgan, President, N3B.

Two funds have been established:

The Nonprofit Emergency Response Fund – Los Alamos will collect funds prioritized toward nonprofits situated in and serving Los Alamos County.

The Nonprofit Emergency Response Fund – Greatest Need will collect funds prioritized toward the greatest need of nonprofits situated in Rio Arriba and Los Alamos Counties.

Nonprofits holding a current IRS 501 (c)3 federal tax exemption located in Los Alamos and/or Rio Arriba Counties who have been financially impacted by COVID-19 are invited to apply. Grants will range from $500 – $1,500. For more information and to submit an application, visit LACF’s website:
